THE GROUND RULES

Terms of Use.

A few simple rules to keep NoteDancer useful for everyone, while respecting the music and work you bring to it.

Last updated: October 24, 2026

Using NoteDancer

NoteDancer is a free, browser-based tool for turning MIDI files into animated sheet music with piano playback and downloadable MP4 videos. By using the website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

No account is required. Some features, including video export, depend on your browser and device capabilities.

Your MIDI files and exported videos

Your imported MIDI files are processed on your device. NoteDancer does not upload or store your MIDI files or exported videos. You are responsible for keeping your own copies.

NoteDancer does not claim ownership of MIDI files you bring to the service or of the videos you create with it. However, using NoteDancer does not give you ownership of someone else's music, arrangements, recordings, or other protected content.

Music rights and sharing

You are responsible for making sure you have the rights or permissions needed to use, export, publish, distribute, or monetize any music and MIDI content you choose. This also applies to videos you post on YouTube, TikTok, or other platforms.

A musical composition may be in the public domain while a particular MIDI transcription, arrangement, or recording still has separate rights. NoteDancer does not verify copyright status or grant licenses to third-party music. Check the rights to your material before sharing it.

Fair use of the service

Please use NoteDancer lawfully and responsibly. Do not use it to infringe another person's rights, interfere with the website, bypass its security, or attempt to disrupt access for others.

The NoteDancer name, branding, website design, and software remain the property of their respective owners or licensors. Using the service does not transfer ownership of those elements. Third-party and open-source components remain subject to their applicable licenses.

Availability and limitations

NoteDancer is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We work to keep the website useful, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free playback, perfect music notation, or successful exports on every device. Features and availability may change over time.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, NoteDancer is not responsible for lost files, interrupted exports, or indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing here limits rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.

External services and privacy

Some pages include links or embedded videos provided by third parties, including YouTube. Those services may have their own terms and policies. For details about local MIDI processing and optional analytics, see our Privacy page.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use as the service develops. The date above indicates the latest revision. Please check this page when you return; continued use after changes take effect indicates acceptance where permitted by law.
